Spirit Store

What is the Spirit Store?

The ATLAS of Lyon County Christmas Store is a shopping experience designed to help families in Lyon County thrive in the Christmas Season. It is expected that families have already built a relationship with ATLAS to work on their financial situation and are fulfilling their commitments as agreed to. (This is NOT meant to be a hand-out, but a part of the "hands-up" approach for those needing help during their time of need).

Qualifying Individuals and families are welcome to purchase new items at greatly reduced prices or use ATLAS vouchers that are provided by taking part - and making meaningful progress- in many of our programming options. We seek to create an experience of dignity, respect and stewardship for all involved– customers, donors, and volunteers.

Where/When is the Spirit Store?

The Spirit Store is located in our Atlas Ministry Center during the month of December. A qualifying participant will have an appointment scheduled through their mentor or by ATLAS management. For more information, please contact the Atlas office 712-472-9016.

Who can use the Spirit Store?

** Lyon County families that fall under one of these three categories:

1) Individuals that have participated in, and made progress, ATLAS programming during the calendar year

Investing in yourself is essential for personal growth and fulfillment, as it enables you to develop new skills, expand your knowledge, and enhance your well-being. By prioritizing self-improvement and self-care, you not only unlock your full potential but also increase your resilience and adaptability in navigating life's challenges.

2) Individuals/Families that have been meeting with an ATLAS mentor and have been fulfilling the agreed-upon terms of that relationship.

Participants are expected to have an ongoing relationship with ATLAS. This relationship is person-centered, but the overall goal is that ATLAS is working with families to remove barriers that prevent them from achieving financial independence. (An "ongoing relationship" is typically a relationship of at least 3 months or more). During these months, ATLAS has resources that can help with budgeting, interview skills, employment searches, meal planning, additional resource direction, or anything else that may be a barrier to overall financial stability.

3) Individuals or families that have experienced an unexpected financial barrier or expense

If your situation is an unexpected hardship, ATLAS would like to learn more about how to walk with you during your situation. ATLAS of Lyon County understands that sometimes it is outside of your control if a financial barrier is present. If you have a situation that fits this section, ATLAS invites you to fill out the form to explain your circumstances. ATLAS meets with each family that applies to confirm eligibility.

Shopping Tips and Policies:

Be honest. We ask that you shop for your household family members only and tell us the truth about who lives with you under your household’s income. Your family, address, and income will be verified prior to scheduling a shopping date with ATLAS Management.

A limit is set per family, so be prepared to shop within that. We do not accept “returns” or “trades”. Know your limits and plan accordingly.

Be prompt for your appointed timeslot. Due to confidentiality reasons, your timeslot is yours. You are expected to arrive at the designated time. Only the applicant(s) on file will be allowed into the Spirit Store to shop.

Share your blessing. If you know of someone who could benefit from shopping at the Spirit Store, tell them about it and our other programming, classes, and personalized mentoring!

How can you help?
