There’s a Place for Teens in Rock Rapids—And It’s Changing Lives

Looking for a safe, fun, and welcoming space for teens in our community? The Youth for Christ Teen Center in Rock Rapids is exactly that—and so much more.

Open every Tuesday from 3:30–6:00 p.m. (including during the summer!), this free program is designed for all youth ages 11–19, no matter what school they attend or what their background may be. Located at 113 First Avenue, the Teen Center is a vibrant hub of activity and connection where teens can come as they are—and experience something real.

Inside, you’ll find:

• A fully loaded game room (foosball, ping pong, carpetball, air hockey, pool)
• A cozy lounge to relax and connect with friends
• A quiet area for homework, crafts, or just a break from the noise
• A full kitchen where kids learn life skills like cooking
• A board game corner for old-school fun

    But what really sets this place apart? After the games and laughter, everyone gathers around the table for what we call “Family Supper.” Before eating, we pause for a short devotional and prayer—a time to refocus hearts and point toward Jesus. Whether a teen knows Christ or has never stepped foot in a church, they’re welcomed and loved here.

    Our team is made up of trained, background-checked volunteers who are actively engaged in their local churches. Their goal isn’t just to supervise—it’s to model the love and character of Christ in everything they do. At the Teen Center, the Gospel isn’t forced—it’s lived.

    While the Teen Center is open to everyone, we’ve seen God do something powerful in the lives of teens who wouldn’t otherwise hear about Jesus. That’s what Youth for Christ is all about—reaching young people everywhere with the hope of Christ, building them into lifelong followers of Jesus who will lead with courage, compassion, and conviction.

    Through the YFC strategy and its 5 Essentials—Widespread Prayer, Loving Relationships, Faithful Bible Teaching, Collaborative Community Strategy, and Adults Who Empower—we are building a movement of transformation right here in Rock Rapids.

And the Teen Center is just the beginning. Throughout the year, YFC offers unforgettable experiences like:

• Trips to waterparks, escape rooms, and fishing adventures
• Real-world life skills like cooking, budgeting, and job interview prep
• Community involvement and service opportunities

We’re dreaming big—and we want YOU to be part of it. Right now, the Teen Center meets on Tuesdays, but with more volunteers, we hope to open a second night soon!
