In August 2015, ATLAS of Lyon County hired its 1st Mentor Coordinator to work alongside the office staff in honoring the core principle: ATLAS is grounded in mentoring. By expanding the Mentor Program, a handful of one-on-one mentoring relationships were prayerfully and successfully developed in 2016. Individuals in Lyon County gift others with intentional Christian friendship, a listening ear, spiritual encouragement and prayer. Partnering together, Attaining Truth, Love, and Self-control, by strengthening the presence, existence and accessibility to Christian community in Lyon County as Ecclesiastes 4: 9a and 10 says, Two are better than one…if one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up.

In May 2016, Lord, Fill Our Cup started emphasizing the core principle: ATLAS is prayer-based ministry. This offers a time of Scripture reading, Observation reflection, Application discussion, and Prayer (SOAP). Held every 2nd and 4th Wednesday from 9:00am to 10:00am, women of all ages and backgrounds are welcome to attend.

That summer, ATLAS increased its relationship with Justice For All (JFA) in Rock Valley as JFA’s Mentoring Youth for Leadership program developed. The Mentoring Youth for Leadership program seeks to provide opportunities for youth in Lyon and Sioux County to build healthy relationships develop passions, contribute to community, and grow personally by connecting with an adult whose role as a mentor is to be a trusted adult friend, positive role model, a companion, and a nurturer of potential. JFA’s program utilizes ATLAS office space for meetings with participants and other interested partners in Lyon County.

Shortly thereafter, the opportunity became available for ATLAS to rent 111 1st Avenue (the building across the street from the office and Lost But Found thrift store) as ATLAS was outgrowing its office space and desiring to further small group fellowships. This location is referred to as the ATLAS Annex.

In October 2016, the 1st Women of Worth (WOW) group started at ATLAS with 8 women already connected to and engaged in ministry work. These dynamic ladies are a beautiful portrait of the Body of Christ and the core principle: is interdenominational.

Over the course of nine months, 21 different women attended a Lord, Fill Our Cup meeting, 8 different women engaged in a WOW study and 10 different individuals actively participated in one-on-one mentoring relationships within the ATLAS Mentor Program. Without a doubt, ongoing contribution to ATLAS of Lyon County is helping, equipping and uniting people to one another and to the Lord. ATLAS requests continued prayers as it further thinks of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works (Hebrews 10:24, NLT).
